UA Off-Season Tennis

TENNIS CLINIC INFORMATION

Many of the girls play at Woodsmill or Frontenac during the winter. Some girls are at Vetta. It is a good idea to take clinics where other girls are. The advantage to this is that we can easily split court time and attend clinics together, but there are obviously no requirements around that. Just ask around to see where girls are playing to find a friend!

Emmie, Alayna, Susie, McKenna, Vivian, Meredith, and Kaytlin belong to Frontenac/Woodsmill.

Sophia takes lessons at Vetta.

Let me know where your daughter is so that I can list it!

It won't begin until March, and games are usually at Dwight Davis on Sunday afternoons between 4-8pm. More information to come on this next year, but we will need 12 girls across the two teams, so let Becky know if your daughter is interested!

TOURNAMENTS

Below is a schedule of local tournament opportunities. For USTA and Gateway, you have to join the organization and then pay for individual matches. For UTR, you can just pay for the individual matches. It's important to understand levels. For illustrative purposes -- Emmie always plays USTA L5 or L6 tournaments. She has never played an L4 -- it's super competitive. For UTR, she is a 3.81. You can enter tournaments in UTR based on level, so if your daughter is a beginner, make sure to look for UTR levels of 0-2.5;. A UTR of 6.0 is REALLY good, so be prepared if she faces a higher level player!

Gateway Tournaments

Many high school girls will play gateways all year round. The levels of players are beginner through intermediate. Great experience. You have to join the league and then it's like $35 per tournament. The play is modified -- best of 5 no ad in a round robin, then the girls with the highest number of games won will go to semis. Play happens weekly at local indoor clubs. Will need to join league to see schedule.
